Nov 2018: IITD joined IBM in its AI Horizons Network (AIHN) program to form a multi-year research collaboration on Neuro-Symbolic Information Systems.
The aim of this partnership, led by the department of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE), is to conduct research on novel techniques and systems
which can help organizations and individuals to take informed decisions by being able to logically reason with their AI systems. World-class faculty members and
students of the department will collaborate closely with IBM researchers in the areas of scalable and explainable reasoning, comprehension and inferencing
that utilizes domain knowledge. Both sides plan to publish their research in peer-reviewed academic conferences and journals, make most discoveries accessible
through open-source contributions, release datasets and open challenges to the research community to identify new areas in making AI decisions better.

Sept 2018: Venkata Padmanabhan is awarded the distinguished alumni award 2018. He studied Computer Science & Engineering at IIT Delhi and obtained B.Tech. in 1993. He is currently a Principal Researcher at Microsoft Research India.
